Loebsack Praises $50 Million Federal Investment in I-80/I-380 Interchange Redesign
Congressman Dave Loebsack released the following statement today after the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that the Iowa Department of Transportation will receive a $50 million grant through its Infrastructure For Rebuilding America (INFRA) program. The funding will be used to implement a comprehensive redesign of the I-80/I-380 interchange. This is the first installment of the approximately $350 million construction project. Loebsack has long fought to secure the funds necessary for the badly needed redesign.
“I am very pleased that the U.S. Department of Transportation has begun dispersing the funding needed to begin the redesign of the interchange at I-80 and I-380. The 90,000 drivers who use this interchange every day know just how dangerous and in need of repairs it is. This project will not only make travel easier, but will spur many jobs in the design and construction of the interchange. I am pleased to support the project and I am excited to see the final results that will make the interstate safer and the valuable local jobs that will be created.”
