Congressman Dave Loebsack announces over $500,000 in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Since of the floods of last summer, the Congressman has worked on a federal level to bring CDBG funds into Iowa, spearheading two disaster supplementals and working closing with administration officials and various agencies. These funds are in addition to the $517 million that the Congressman worked to secure for Iowa’s flood ravaged communities in June.

“As our families are still struggling to move forward after the floods of last summer and with the current economic downturn, each and every influx of funding helps put  Iowa one step closer in the rebuilding process,” said Congressman Loebsack. “These funds are another step on the road to recovery, and I look forward to continuing to work with Iowans day in and day out to create a better Iowa.”

This addition of Recovery Act funds will aid the long-term recovery efforts in Iowa's communities. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act awarded Cedar Rapids $350,616 and Iowa City $176,785 in funds through the CDBG program.
