Since 1970, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has been an independent agency. The USPS provides mail processing and delivery services to individuals and businesses. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is the federal law enforcement agency which has jurisdiction in criminal matters affecting the integrity and security of the mail.
The U.S. Postal Service website provides useful information and online services for mail customers. If you are having a specific problem with the USPS that you cannot resolve and need assistance, please print out my Authorization Form and fax or mail it to my office.
Please note, as of Monday, May 14, 2007 new rates and fees for all classes of mail except Periodicals took effect. The new price to send a first class 1oz. letter is 41 cents, and each additional ounce is 17 cents per ounce.
The rate and fees for Periodicals will take effect on Sunday, July 15, 2007.
